LAW CITY: 1988 TO THE PRESENT

Visitors to Pittsburgh today cannot help but notice that the names of two Pittsburgh-based law firms - among the largest law firms in the world - prominently adorn the tops of two of the buildings on the downtown skyline.  Law in Pittsburgh continues to be big business -- influential locally and prominent internationally. 

During the period from the 1980s to the present, the practice of law has undergone sweeping changes - from the introduction of new technology, to the debut of lawyer advertising (including the ubiquitous TV ads of Edgar Snyder), to the continued travails of women entering the practice, to the impact of mediation on traditional trial practice. 

The last portion of The Steel Bar continues to look at some of the major personalities and events of the bar, while examining the future of the legal profession in general, and of the "Steel Bar" in particular.
